Muscat: The Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) has announced the winners of a video production competition dubbed “Quzaiha”.
The competition was held among Omani scholarships holders in association with the Liverpool Omani student society.
The MOHE said, “For ‘Single’, Muhammed al- Hajri and and Ahmed al- Baqlani teamed up. The two study in the UK. In second place came “Truth of a Scholar,” where four students in Ireland formed a team: Abdulrahman al Shukaili, Jamal al Shukry, alMunther al Siyabi, and Ali al Niyadi.
“Amira al Harthy in the US won third place with “The Unveiled Truth: A story About Depression.”
Amira was the first to respond to the Ministry’s announcement in a tweet where she expressed shock. She also gave credit to those who aided her, saying, “Credit goes to Jack Ashburn as talent and Yiheng Song as filmographer and editor.”
‘The Unveiled Truth’ first appeared in 2016 on YouTube as a final film project. On the website, Amira wrote, “If you or someone you know is suffering from depression, please reach out. You are loved and you are needed here, nothing will be the same without you.”
According to the ministry, “Three cash prizes were offered to the first three places: OMR250, 200, and 150.”
The competition was judged by artists Muhammed al Ghuraibi, Ahmed al Miqbali, and Muhammed al Ghafri.
