Oman weather: Rain, rainbow delight Muscat residents

Muscat: Rain fell in different parts of Oman on Tuesday.
The highest amount of rainfall was recorded in Al Dakhiliyah region of Nizwa where it rained around 51 mm, while in Sharqiyah it was 22 mm, according to the Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources.

The rain resulted in the flooding wadis in the wilayats of Nizwa, Nakhal, Al Awabi and Dima Wa Taeen. Even Muscat received some rain during the evening as a result of deep upper air trough.

“Wadis are overflowing and in some places traffic has been hit badly,” according to the residents.
Rain and hail fell in several areas of Samail on Tuesday. In its latest forecast, the Oman meteorology department has predicted chances of flash flood and poor visibility during rain and thundershowers starting from Monday to Thursday, due to a deep upper air trough.
“Isolated rains are expected over areas in Musandam, Al Buraimi, Al Dhahira, Muscat, North and South Batinah, and Sharqiyah region during this period,” it said.
