Muscat: Police dogs completed a training course in explosives searching, officials announced.
The Police Dogs section of the ROP cavalry unit concluded a two-month training course, including explosives searching with their trainees.
The programme involved an exercise for the explosives search team, which simulated a complex inspection process where prohibited materials are suspected to be present.
A second simulation had the narcotics team inspect a vehicle suspected of carrying narcotics for the purpose of smuggling.
Another simulation involved a line-up of suspects in order for the team to identify the suspect who carried out a theft.
The final simulation involved patrols teams supporting the Special Police Task Force in conducting the arrest of an armed man who had taken hostages.
At the end of the ceremony, Lt. Col. Mohammed bin Salim bin Abdullah Al-Mufarji, Commander of the Special Tasks Police Unit, distributed certificates to the trainees.
