Oman shares end marginally higher

Muscat: Oman benchmark MSM30 Index ended at 5,411.93 points, up 0.11 per cent. The MSM Sharia Index increased 0.33 per cent to close at 797.35 points. Gulf Investment Services was the most active in terms of volume as well as turnover. The top gainer was ACWA Power, up 4.71 per cent while Oman National Engineering was Tuesday’s top loser, down 4.00 per cent.
A total number of 554 trades were executed on Tuesday, generating a turnover of OMR2.67 million with 18.5 million shares changing hands. Out of 33 traded securities, 13 advanced, 5 declined, and 15 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC & Arab remained net buyers for OMR140,000 followed by Foreign investors for OMR20,000 while Omani Investors were net sellers for OMR160,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index gained 0.25 per cent to close at 8,081.02 points. Alizz Islamic Bank, Al Batinah Development, HSBC Bank, Gulf Investment Services and Bank Nizwa increased 2.30 per cent, 2.17 per cent, 1.54 per cent, 1.11 per cent and 1.03 per cent respectively. Al Madina Investments and Bank Muscat declined 1.39 per cent and 0.50 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index ended at 7,302.82 points, up 0.20 per cent. Al Anwar Ceramics, Galfar Engineering and Oman Fisheries gained 2.11 per cent, 1.23 per cent and 0.67 per cent respectively. Oman Cable, down 0.31 per cent was the sole loser.
Services Index finished on a flat note at 2,739.82 points, up 0.01 per cent. ACWA Power, OIFC and Omantel advanced 4.71 per cent, 1.52 per cent and 0.41 per cent respectively. Oman National Engineering and Al Batinah Power declined 4.00 per cent and 1.74 per cent respectively.
