Fall continues on Muscat bourse

Muscat: Barring a special deal of OMR7 million, the MSM 30 remained tepid to close at 5,403.95 points, down 0.49 per cent. MSM Sharia Index had marginal gain of 0.05 per cent to close at 838.59 points.
Galfar Engineering was the most active in terms of volume while Oman Telecommunications Company (Omantel) led in terms of turnover. Renaissance Services was the top gainer, up by 6.34 per cent, while Al Hassan Engineering was the top loser, with a loss of 2.86 per cent.
As many as 607 trades were executed on Wednesday, generating turnover of OMR9.58 million with 12.2 million shares changing hands. Out of 43 traded securities, eight advanced, 18 declined and 17 remained unchanged. Omani investors were net buyers to the tune of OMR368,000 worth of shares followed by GCC and Arab investors at OMR171,000. Foreign investors, which remained net sellers, sold shares amounting to OMR539,000.
Financial Index declined by 1.03 per cent to close at 6,676.20 points. Al Madina Takaful and Ominvest increased by 1.39 per cent and 0.43 per cent, respectively.
Bank Sohar, Al Madina Investment, Gulf Investment Services, Al Anwar Holding and National Bank of Oman declined 4.32 per cent, 3.23 per cent, 3.19 per cent, 2.20 per cent and 1.85 per cent, respectively.
Industrial Index ended at 6,628.78 points, down 0.17 per cent. Al Hassan Engineering and Oman Cement gained by 1.47 per cent and 0.91 per cent, respectively. Galfar Engineering, Al Jazeera Steel, Oman Fisheries and Al Maha Ceramics declined by 3.17 per cent, 2.68 per cent, 1.72 per cent and 0.95 per cent, respectively.
Services Index advanced 0.14 per cent to finish at 3,019.64 points. Port Services, Al Suwadi Power, Omantel and Al Batinah Power increased by 9.45 per cent, 1.50 per cent, 1.27 per cent and 1 per cent, respectively. Renaissance Services, Sembcorp Salalah, Ooredoo Oman and OIFC declined by 1.99 per cent, 1.61 per cent, 0.57 per cent and 0.50 per cent, respectively.
