MUSCAT: Dashing batsman Zeeshan Maqsood will lead a strong Oman squad packed with quality all-rounders into the 50-over ICC World Cricket League (WCL) Division 3, the first international tournament Sultanate is going to host from November 9 to 20 at the picturesque Ministry of Sports (MOS) grassy grounds in Amerat.
The six-nation competition will be contested by Oman, Kenya, Singapore, USA, Uganda and Denmark.
Coached by former Sri Lankan great Duleep Mendis, Oman will once again rely heavily on its bowling to do well in an international competition. Presence of four quality seamers, medium pace all-rounders and three match-winning spinners in the squad lends its bowling attack considerable bite to worry the opponents.
Keeping an eye on the future Oman has included Pakistan School Muscat’s Obaidullah in the team reserves after a series of superb performances by the young all-rounder, who is also playing for Enhance in the Premier Division.
Oman will take on Kenya in the tournament’s first game on November 9 at MOS ground 1.
