Orpic’s Muscat Sohar Product Pipeline achieves major safety milestone

Muscat: Muscat-Sohar Pipeline project (MSPP) has achieved an important safety milestone by recording 10 million human hours without Lost Time Injury (LTI).
This project is one of the most important strategic and investment growth projects for a company in its location in Al-Jifnain.
Andres Suarez, general manager, Orpic Logistics, Orpic, said, “Safety is our number one priority. The Muscat-Sohar pipeline project (MSPP) is expected to be fully completed by the fourth quarter of 2017. It project will deliver numerous social, economic and environmental benefits, including: providing job opportunities for Omanis and improving road safety, reducing pollution by reducing truck traffic by 70 per cent; and support the Muscat International Airport’s expansion. In addition, many more flow-on benefits in economic and strategic terms for the Sultanate will also be realised.
Pre-commissioning activities have started at the Al Jifnain terminal. The progress of the Muscat International Airport terminal and pipeline work is 68 per cent. The overall project is 92 per cent complete and commercial operations are expected to start at the Al Jifnain terminal by the third quarter of 2017.
