Davos: Oman has been ranked the sixth most competitive Arab travel and tourism destination in a new report.
The Sultanate of Oman has been ranked sixth at the Arab countries’ level in the 2017 travel and tourism competitiveness index, released by the World Economic Forum on its website.
The Sultanate was ranked at number 66 among 136 countries worldwide. It got 3.78 points on the index which is issued every two years.
Oman scored 5.1 points in the sub-index of business environment in which Oman is ranked 29th at the world level and fourth at the Arab level.
The Sultanate also scored 6. 5 points and ranked 4th at the world level in the safety and security index.
The report of the World Economic Forum, which was released yesterday, said that the Sultanate receives 1.897 million visitors every year generating a revenue of OMR1.812 billion equivalent to 2.5 per cent of its gross domestic product.
