Bangladeshi envoy praises bilateral ties with Oman

Muscat: Bangladesh’s envoy to Oman highlighted the strong ties shared by his country with the Sultanate, which date back to thousands of years, at recent celebrations to mark the 47th anniversary of Bangladeshi Independence and National Day.
“Bangladesh and the Sultanate of Oman enjoy excellent and friendly relations, based on mutual interest and also based on shared and enduring value and ideas. “The relations between Oman and Bangladesh date back to thousands of years and the heritage and culture of Bangladesh are highly influenced by Omani and Arab culture,” said Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Oman, Sikander Ali.
“I, on behalf of the Government of Bangladesh convey my heartfelt greetings to the brotherly people of the Sultanate, our expatriate Bangladeshi community and all our friends living in the Sultanate. After independence in 1971, our country has achieved significant progress in socio-economic development.”
At the grand celebrations held at Hotel Intercontinental Muscat, where Sheikh Mohammed Bin Said Al Kalbani, minister of Social Development and other dignitaries were also present, the ambassador highlighted the exchange and involvement between the two countries.
“There were a number of high level visits between Bangladesh and Oman during the last year, including the delegation from the National Defence College. Oman and Bangladesh have signed an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) on Foreign Office consultations, finalised an agreement on the promotion and reciprocal protection of investment, and also an MoU on visa exemption for the holders of diplomatic and official passports from both the countries, leading to a new era of our bilateral relations.”
Ambassador Ali also extended his thanks to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said on the occasion. “On this auspicious occasion, I pay our deepest gratitude and highest esteem to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said for his kind consideration towards the Bangladeshis working and living here with safety, security, and satisfaction.”
“His Majesty is a blessing from Almighty Allah for our Omani brothers and sisters of the Sultanate. The country has reached a dignified position in the world community with the prudent policies and the renaissance brought by the wise ruler.”
