Al Wusta Municipality completes construction of food, water laboratory

Haima--- Al Wusta Municipality has completed field and construction tasks of a food and water laboratory project in the Wilayat of Haima. The project, funded by Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), constitutes a step forward in enhancing Al Wusta governorate’s regulatory infrastructure. It stood at a cost of RO 200,000.

The project is in pursuance of partnership between the public and private sectors.

Eng. Marwan bin Abdullah Al Farsi, Assistant Director General of Al Wusta Municipality, told Oman News Agency (ONA) that the laboratory, which occupies a total area of 310 square metres, was designed in accordance with technical standards that keep pace with the requirements of modern testing and analysis.

Al Farsi added that the project includes a food analysis laboratory (with an area of​​ 51 square metres), a water analysis laboratory (with an area of ​​22 square metres) a room for samples and other auxiliary facilities.

Al Farsi pointed out that the laboratory was equipped with 30 modern devices (3 for water analysis and 21 for food analysis) and 6 refrigerators. The lab is prepared to conduct food and water microbial tests and detect toxins, if any. The project will help enhance the speed of response and raise the efficiency of monitoring procedures.
