Muscat: More than OMR71,000 have been raised by the Peace For Beirut Campaign. The initiative was launched last Wednesday by Dar Al Atta'a Association in cooperation with Oman Charitable Organisation to support those affected by the recent blasts in Beirut.
The blasts resulted in the death of several people, injuries to many others and large scale damage to property.
The total amount raised through the campaign stood at OMR71,123. The launch of the campaign was done in partnership with Muscat Auction, Jawahir Oman, Dar Al Aseel, Falafil Restaurant, Zahr El Laymoun Restaurant, Hali Gifts and with the participation of artists Maryam Al Wahaibi, Buthaina Al Aliyani, Omaima Al Hinai, Shamsa Al Harthi, Halima Al Balushi and Rebeca Nigrinis.
The campaign came within the disaster management programme of Dar Al Atta'a to support cases of natural disasters at the local, regional and international level.
Dar Al Atta'a has earlier organised relief campaigns for Gaza Strip, Yemen, Syria and Rohingya refugees.
Maryam bint Issa Al Zadjali, the Chairperson of Dar Al Atta’a Association, said that Dar Al Atta'a aimed to extend support within and outside the Sultanate. The Peace for Beirut campaign came within the efforts of Dar Al Atta'a to support the Lebanese people, she said adding that the support to others during the time of crises reflects the values and principles of the Omani society.
