Oman's share index ends marginally higher

Muscat: The MSM30 index closed at 3,504.16 points, up 0.19 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended up by 0.58 per cent at 523.39 points. Al Maha Ceramics, up 7.65 per cent was the top gainer while convertible SMN Power, down 3.13 per cent was the top loser. Al Batinah Power was the most active in terms of the number of shares traded and Meethaq Sukuk was the most active in terms of turnover.
A total number of 430 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR1.1 million, with more than 9.2 million shares changing hands. Out of 38 traded stocks, 7 advanced, 6 declined and 25 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors were net sellers for OMR121,000 while GCC and Arab investors were net buyers for OMR114,000 followed by local investors for OMR7,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed up by 0.12 per cent at 5,532.54 points. Bank Nizwa, Al Anwar Holding and Bank Muscat were up by 2.06 per cent, 1.52 per cent and 1.19 per cent respectively. Oman & Emirates Investment and HSBC were down by 2.44 per cent and 1.12 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 3,970.76 points, up 0.30 per cent. Al Maha Ceramics and Gulf International were up by 7.65 per cent and 1.98 per cent respectively.
Services index was up 0.08 per cent before closing at 1,557.01 points. Al Batinah Power, Phoenix Power and Ooredoo were up by 1.89 per cent, 1.75 per cent and 0.99 per cent respectively. SMN Power, Renaissance Service, Al Jazeera Service and National Gas were down by 3.13 per cent, 1.55 per cent, 1.17 per cent and 0.58 per cent respectively.
