Muscat: The Research Council (TRC) has announced the funding of 28 scientific papers on the COVID-19 pandemic at a total cost of OMR 280,000.
The Research Council held its second meeting for the year 2020 remotely, chaired by His Highness Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defense Affairs, Chairman of the Research Council and in the presence of Excellencies and representatives of a number of academic and private institutional members of the authority.
TRC said in a statement, "The Board has reviewed the developments in the COVID-19 pandemic research program, through which 28 research projects were funded at a total cost of approximately OMR 280,000."
"The establishment of the Center for Excellence in the 5G Networks and the Internet of Things was also approved, with the aim of supporting national efforts in monitoring, developing and localising technologies," the council added.
