Shrimp farm to be established in South Al Sharqiyah Governorate

Muscat: The agreement of construction works has been signed to establish a shrimp farm in South Al Sharqiyah Governorate, Oman News Agency (ONA) said.

A statement issued online by ONA said, "An agreement of construction work has been signed to establish a shrimp farm in Khwayma village in the Wilayat of Jalan Bani Buali with a production capacity of 3400 tons annually to produce Indian white shrimp, which is the most requested one in the world."

"The project aims to exploit the geographical location of the Sultanate, which overlooks the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean, and to enhance the added value of raw materials and contribute to achieving food security for the country and creating job opportunities for Omani youth," the statement added.
