Oman's finance ministry issues circular on retirement of workers above 60 years age

Muscat: Ministry of Finance has issued a circular regarding the referral of workers in government companies who have exceeded the age of (60) years for retirement.

A statement issued online by the Oman News Agency (ONA), said: "The Ministry of Finance issued a financial publication No. 17/2020 to all government companies regarding the regulation of some aspects of operations."

The statement said: “With reference to the Minister's Council decision at its meeting No. (5/2020) regarding regulating aspects related to the labour market and employment policies in government companies with the aim of accelerating the pace of employment and providing an opportunity to absorb Omanis looking for work."

ONA added, "The decision included referring workers in government companies who could have exceeded the age of (60) years for retirement, as was the practice in government institutions and not to extend except in the narrowest limits."

"Finance stressed the importance of the commitment of all government companies to implement the decision," the statement added.
