Lobster fishing season begins in Oman

Muscat: Oman's Lobster fishing season for the year 2017 began on Wednesday morning on the coasts of the Governorates of Dhofar, Al Wusta and South A'Sharqiyah.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries requested traditional fishermen to comply with the permitted fishing methods in the waters of the Sultanate, during the season in March and April, and to avoid fishing egg-laden lobsters, as well as lobsters that are less than eight centimeters (8 cm).
The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries had prepared all the guidance, awareness, regulatory, research and statistical efforts.
The Fisheries Control and Licensing Department in the Directorate-General of Fisheries Development in the ministry has intensified the supervisory role of regulating work during the season for the application of the Maritime Fishing Law and its executive regulations in cooperation with the fishermen.
