“Oman’s Ministry of Health urges the travellers coming from the countries in which the epidemic has been reported, particularly China, South Korea, Japan, Singapore and Iran during the past 14 days to contact the MOH Contact Centre in order to guide them with regard to the quarantine and the other precautionary measures.

“As part of the infection control procedures, the ministry indicates that it will enforce the home or institutional quarantine for the travellers coming from the above mentioned countries for a 14-day period, inclusive of China, Iran, Singapore, and South Korea.”

The Ministry of Health (MOH) is monitoring the epidemical situation of the novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) at regional and global levels. As of February 22, 2020, a total of 76,769 cases of COVID-19 have been recorded in the world including 75,569 cases in China, resulting in 2,247 deaths.

A number of novel coronavirus cases have been recorded in four Middle East countries including the UAE, Egypt, Lebanon and Iran. No cases of the novel coronavirus have been recorded in the Sultanate.

“The ministry is reviewing and updating the procedures continually in line with the COVID-19 developments, as well as taking the required precautionary measures for preparedness to respond to the disease in case of any emerging COVID-19 cases in the Sultanate,” added the Ministry of Health.

“In light of the wide geographical area of the epidemic, globally and regionally, that covered a number of countries that have economic and social ties with the Sultanate, MOH recommends to avoid travelling to the countries that have recorded cases of the novel coronavirus,” added the government body. “The ministry also recommends contact of the MOH Contact Centre before travelling outside the Sultanate to attend any religious and social events, as well as international conferences.”
