Oman swimmers for Iran meet

Muscat: Oman contingent left for Isafahan in Iran to take part in the International Swimming Championship beginning Thursday.
The age group swimming competition is considered as the preparation ground for the forthcoming GCC Aquatics Championship to be held in March.
The national teams and coaches committee which met under the chairmanship of Oman Swimming Association chairman Taha bin Sulaiman Al Kishri finalised on the swimmers who will take part in the Iran event which concludes on February 12.
According to information received from the swimming association, Sultan Al Kindi and Shihab Rizq will compete in the 15 to 17 age group competition, while Omar Al Balushi, Khalfan Al Wahaibi, Amar Al Wahaibi, Muhannad Awaladthani and Bashair Al Khulaibi will take part in the 13-14 age group category.
Adam Al Raisi is the lone participant in the 11-12 category and the team is accompanied by coach Kamal Khamri and administrator Ahmed Al Saidi.
Earlier, the national teams and coaches committee at Oman Swimming Association held its first meeting for the year to deal with the issues on the agenda including the discussion on the action programme of the committee for 2017 and for the coming four years following the formation of the new board of OSA.
The committee discussed a number of proposals aimed to develop the national teams and to ensure sustainable development and preservation of the achievements bagged by the OSA.
The meeting also discussed the current challenges associated with the establishments and supplies on the one hand and the resources and budgets on the other hand.
The meeting also reviewed the general programme of the national swimming teams for the first quarter of the year and the current training sessions of the national teams.
The meeting also discussed the actual conditions at the training centres for juniors.
National Teams and Coaches Committee was chaired by Taha bin Sulaiman Al Kahsari and the members were Tareq Salim Al Hashmi, Nasser Mohammed Al Aufi, Ahmed Mohammed Al Hakim, Salim Khamis Al Alawi , Ahmed Sulaiman Al Husaini, Salim Khalfan Al Balushi, Husain Ali Al Balushi and Mishal Al Qasar.
