Muscat: A student of Indian School Al Wadi Al Kabir jumped from the top of her building, according to a top official from the Indian School administration.

The student waited for her parents to leave their home in Wadi Kabir, before reportedly committing the act.

“They live in a two-story building in Wadi Kabir, and on top of that building, is a small flat, so she climbed onto the top of that structure and jumped from there,” said an official from the Board of Directors of Indian Schools in the Sultanate of Oman, while speaking to Times of Oman.

The reasons behind her decision to commit such an act are yet to be ascertained. “This is a really, really unfortunate thing that has happened.” he added. “But you can never truly know someone else’s mind, and we do not know what has triggered this. She is a very cheerful child and she has a very good personality, so this is completely unexpected.”

An official at the Royal Oman Police (ROP) said: “It’s an unfortunate incident. The body has been transferred to a hospital and it will be repatriated to India soon.”

Meanwhile, the school will remain closed on Sunday to observe one-day mourning.
