Muscat:Two nationals impersonating police officers were arrested for kidnapping two Asian expats, the Royal Oman Police (ROP) reported on Saturday.
The accused had demanded a ransom to release their victims, according to the police report.
The Nizwa police station received a call from a son of one of the two men, informing that they have been kidnapped and that the abductors were asking for money.
Following investigations, the police arrested two citizens in Bausher.
Drugs seized
An attempt to smuggle 2.8 million pills of drugs was foiled by the ROP at Sohar airport.
The police said around 2.8 million pills of captagon drug were found hidden inside pipes. A police source said this attempt was linked to a similar bid to smuggle the contraband last November.
