Muscat: Majlis Al Shura’s Economic Committee hosted a number of officials from Orpic in order to learn about their opinions and proposals that would raise the efficiency of the performance of state-owned companies and stand on the major challenges it faces.
Shura yesterday held its 4th regular meeting of the 2nd annual sitting (2016-2017) of the 8th term (2015-2019), headed by Saleh bin Said Messan, Head of the committee.
The committee inquired about the company’s financial performance, its history, the added value of the company in the GDP, domestic and foreign investments, and the company’s contribution in the field of community support.
The committee also hosted officials from the Secretariat General for Taxation to discuss the Agreement on the Avoidance of Double Taxation and Prevention of Fiscal Evasion with respect to Taxes on Income with the Government of Sri Lanka, transferred from the Council of Ministers.
