
Barka: The competitions of His Majesty the Sultan’s Camel Cup Festival 2026 commenced on Sunday at the Al Fulaij track in the Wilayat of Barka.
Organised by the Royal Court Affairs, represented by the Royal Camel Corps, the opening day featured 32 rounds for the "Hagayeg" category over a distance of 4 kilometres. The races were held across morning and evening sessions, with 20 rounds dedicated to "Bakkar" (female camels) and 12 rounds for "Qa’adan" (male camels).
The morning session included 22 rounds for both the "Bakkar" and "Qa’adan" categories.
The second day of the festival will continue on Monday, featuring 22 rounds for the "Lagaya" category over a distance of 5 kilometers. These will include 15 rounds for "Bakkar" and 7 rounds for "Qa’adan," distributed between morning and evening sessions.
