Don’t fall for fake prizes and online scams: Royal Oman Police

Muscat: The Royal Oman Police (ROP) on Wednesday issued a fresh alert to residents and citizens to protect themselves from scammers and to refrain from sharing their personal information or Personal Identification Number (PIN) either over phone or social media.

A statement issued online by ROP said: “Ignore all incoming social media Ignore calls and messages claiming to be a communication company, a bank or a famous person requesting your personal data, PIN number and deceiving that you have won a prize in cash or in kind or offering a financial help.”

“Do not leave your SIM card and ATM card with anyone when you leave the country; it may be used for fraudulent purposes.” ROP added.
