#OmanPride: 'Godfather' of fine arts named grand prize winner in Oman

Muscat: Oman’s most prominent artist Anwar Sonia Al Zadjali won the grand prize at the 24th annual arts exhibition.
Paintings by the country’s most recognized artists were displayed at the headquarters of the Omani Society for Fine Arts.

“Al Zadjali is the godfather of fine arts in the Sultanate and he undoubtedly deserves to win,” said Khalil Al Rawahi, society spokesman.
The event was held under the patronage of Abdul Aziz Al Rawas, advisor to His Majesty the Sultan for Cultural Affairs.
A number of artists were honoured during the event which was attended by art professors and experts in the field.

Ali bin Sulaiman Al Jabri and Inaam Al Lawati bagged the first place, below the grand prize.
The second place was shared by Yasser Al Dhanki and Abdul Kareem Al Maimani while Ali Al Marshudi and Abdul Majeed Al Balushi came third.
The jury’s prize was awarded to Salman Al Hajri.
The honorary award went to Indian artist Kenak Mitra and Egyptian Hani Faruq.
