Richard Pakenham, chief sales and marketing officer at MMG addressed the large gathering of students in the senior and junior blocks of the school.
“As we approach the 46th National Day of Oman, we have decided to do something quite special—to invite every resident in the country to participate in a national project, to register their names to be included in a magnificent portrait of His Majesty the Sultan.
“This will be published on the National Day on all of our media websites, social media, and of course in the newspapers and also as a giant mural that will be showcased in a very prominent public place for future generations to admire.”
He further explained the process of registration and encouraged students to get as many registrations as possible, “The reception to the campaign has been fantastic so far, let me say how impressed I am to see so many wonderful posters expressing your love for the Sultan, this is a truly magnificent effort and I salute you for that.”
“Ask your parents, friends, relatives, extended family here in Oman to register as well, so their names can also be included in the portrait. Pakenham also introduced a special task for school students, “To make this project even more exciting for students, there is a special task, which has been created, a class within one of the schools; the class which generates the maximum number of registrations, will win a wonderful night to remember at a leading restaurant in Muscat.”
D.N. Rao, principal of the school, appreciated the campaign and said, “No words would be enough to show our gratitude to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, a true visionary; what better way than the new initiative the Muscat Media Group has put together—the “I Love the Sultan” campaign—brilliantly executed at the appropriate time i.e. just ahead of the National Day of Oman 2016.”
With the ‘I Love the Sultan,’ MMG aims to register about 100,000 participants in this biggest ever campaign organised by the group.
Following the resounding initial success of the Times of Oman’s ‘I Love the Sultan’ campaign, the ‘Saarab’ augmented reality application (app) has been launched in order to make it easier for people to participate in this campaign.
“I Love the Sultan” is an innovative digital campaign that will create a portrait of His Majesty using the names of hundreds of thousands of residents, Omani and expatriate alike.
Anyone who registers will also be entered into the biggest-ever prize draw from MMG, which has OMR25,000 worth of gifts to be won.
These include a brand new Nissan Xtrail, diamonds, several iPhone7s, a luxury family holiday thanks to the major sponsorship partners, including Suhail Bahwan automobile, Malabar Gold & Diamonds and the Sheraton Oman hotel.
The portrait will be published in the National Day edition of the Times of Oman and uploaded on all its social media platforms and website.
Times of Oman’s readers can participate by registering their names online via the link www.timesofoman.com/extra/ilovethesultan or visit www.timesofoman.com and click on the banners.
