Oman weather: Tropical storm Hikaa set to make landfall today

Tropical Storm Hikaa is about 200 kilometers away from Masirah Island, according to the Public Authority for Civil Aviation.

According to officials, Hikaa will make landfall on Tuesday and is expected to hit South Al Sharqiyah and Al Wusta Governorates with heavy wind and rain. PACA has warned people take proper precaution and to stay away from low areas and avoid crossing wadis.

As per the second warning issued by PACA on Tuesday explained that as of 5 AM, the storm's center was "320 km away from Masirah island and the closest convective cloud bands associated with the system are 180km away from Masirah.

"Landfall is expected to be between South Al Sharqiyah and Al Wusta this evening.

"The direct effects over South Al sharqiyah and Al Wusta wil be starting from today afternoon which will be associated wjth heavy rain between 50-80 milimeters and gale winds betweeb 45-55knots," the statement added.
