Oman transport: New parking fees go into force in Muscat

Muscat: Municipal authorities have begun implementing new parking fees in Muscat.

As per the decision No. 151/2016 issuing the Regulation for regularising the use of public parking, which was issued by Eng Mohasen bin Mohammed Al Shaikh, Chairman of Muscat Municipality, the Municipality started activating the new parking fees to OMR0.100 for each 30 minutes. The new fee will be applied at the 9,376 public parking lots covered by 288 machines.
Khalid bin Mahmoud Al Hasni, Assisstant Director General of Meters at Muscat Municipality said that the Municipality has fixed 114 new machines that cover 4,223 parking lots in Al Khuwair, Al Ghubrah North, Al Qurum Business Area, Al Khoudh Commercial Market, A’ Seeb Market, Al Juma Market in Al Wadi Al Kabir, Al Shajieyah market and business areas in Greater Muttrah.
He added that the meters operate from 8.00am up to 1.00pm and from 04 to 09 pm except for Fridays, Saturdays and officially announced holidays.
