Shares on Muscat bourse fall on profit-booking

Muscat: Shares on the Muscat Securities Market reacted on profit-booking. The MSM 30 closed lower at 5,762.74 points, down by 0.28 per cent. The MSM Sharia Index declined 0.18 per cent to close at 881.05 points.
Al Anwar Holding was the most active in terms of volume as well as turnover. Monday’s top gainer was United Finance, up 3.33 per cent while Construction Material Industries was the top loser, down 3.23 per cent.
As many as 433 trades were executed on Monday, generating a turnover of OMR2.06 million with 7.44 million shares changing hands. Out of 43 traded securities, 5 advanced, 17 declined and 21 remained unchanged. Arab and GCC investors were net buyers to the tune of OMR501,000 worth of shares. Omani investors, who switched to net sellers, sold stocks amounting to OMR339,000, followed by foreign investors at OMR162,000.
Financial Index closed at 7,378.42 points, down by 0.30 per cent. United Finance was the sector gainer and was up by 3.33 per cent to close at OMR0.155. Gulf Investment Services, Al IzzBank , Oman& Emirates and Ominvest declined by 1.68 per cent, 1.54 per cent, 1.46 per cent and 1.42 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index down by 0.17 per cent to end at 7,416.58 points. Galfar Engineering was the only gainer in the sector and was up by 0.97 per cent to close at OMR0.103. Construction Material Industries, Al Hassan Engineering , Al Anwar Ceramics and Oman Flour Mills declined by 3.23 per cent, 1.53 per cent, 0.96 per cent and 0.63 per cent respectively.
Services Index closed at 3,137.94 points, down 0.32 per cent. Al Jazeera Services, OIFC, OIFC and Al Suwadi Power increased by 0.99 per cent, 0.51 per cent and 0.50 per cent respectively. Pheonix Power, Omantel , National Gas and Sembcorp Salalah declined by 2.68 per cent , 0.63 per cent , 0.63 per cent and 0.41 per cent respectively.
