Muscat bourse closes flat

Muscat: A firm trend witnessed on the Muscat bourse amid scattered support. The MSM 30 ended on a flat note and closed at 5,779.18 points, marginally up by 0.03 per cent. The MSM Sharia Index declined 0.03 per cent to close at 882.60 points.
Bank Nizwa was the most active in terms of volume while Raysut Cement led in turnover. Sunday’s top gainer was Al Jazeira Services, up 3.57 per cent, while Oman Education was the top loser, down 6.88 per cent.
As many as 302 trades were executed on Sunday, generating turnover of OMR1.32 million with 5.67 million shares changing hands. Out of 34 traded securities, 5 advanced, 8 declined and 21 remained unchanged. Omani investors were net buyers to the tune of OMR104,000 worth of shares followed by GCC and Arab investors at OMR17,000. Foreign investors, who were net sellers, sold stocks amounting to OMR121,000.
Financial Index closed at 7,401.20 points, down by 0.01 per cent. Ahli Bank and Oman United Insurance increased by 0.53 per cent and 0.36 per cent respectively. Al Anwar Holding and Al Sharqiya Investment declined by 1.05 per cent and 0.76 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index down by 0.40 per cent to end at 7,429.51 points. Al Jazeera Steel Products, Oman Fisheries, Oman Cables and Galfar Engineering declined by 2.51 per cent, 1.61 per cent, 1.47 per cent and 0.96 per cent respectively.
Services Index closed at 3,147.92 points, up 0.12%. Al Jazeera Services, OIFC and Oreedoo Oman increased 3.57 per cent, 1.02 per cent, 0.68 per cent and 0.63 per cent respectively. Oman Education, down 6.888 per cent was the only sector loser.
