MUSCAT: A total of 11,172 non-Omani workers were found in violation of labour regulations in Oman during the first half of 2026, with 2,944 workers deported, according to the Ministry of Labour.
The figures were released in the Ministry’s Executive Summary of the Results of Inspection Visits for the First Half of 2026, highlighting the government’s efforts to organise the labour market, strengthen compliance and safeguard the rights of workers and employers.
The Ministry said 6,707 inspection visits were conducted during the period, resulting in a 69.5 per cent compliance rate. A total of 4,680 cases were referred to the Public Prosecution, while 272 employment opportunities were registered pursuant to settlement decisions.
The Ministry described the inspection programme as part of its efforts to organise the labour market and ensure everyone’s rights, with field inspections aimed at identifying violations and promoting compliance with labour regulations.
The enforcement measures target violations involving non-Omani workers and employers, including working without the required authorisation or outside the conditions of approved employment. Legal action is taken against violations, with cases referred to the relevant authorities where necessary.
The latest figures underline Oman’s continued efforts to regulate the expatriate workforce, address irregular employment practices and create a more organised and compliant labour market in line with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.
