Electricity, water production in Oman increase in June

Muscat: The Sultanate production of electricity increased to more than 15,799 GW till the end of June, logging a 3.3 per cent increase compared to the production recorded in May.
Similarly, the water sector production increased to 148 million cubic metres with a growth of 10.1 per cent till the end of June, compared to the same period last year, according to the latest statistics released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
Oman’s total electricity production till the end of June 2016 stood at 15,799.5 GW per hour, compared to 15,293.4 GW per hour in the corresponding period of 2015, constituting a rise by 3.3 per cent.
The Governorates of North and South Al Batinah, as well as the Governorate of Al Dhahirah recorded the highest rate at the governorate level as the production of these governorates stood at 8,543.4 GW per hour, comprising an increase by 11.1 per cent, compared to 7,687.1 GW per hour in the same period last year.
Total electricity production in the Governorate of Muscat reached 2,226.4 GW per hour with a decline of 18.2 per cent compared to the production recorded during the same period of 2015, which reached 2,720.9 GW per hour.
In Dhofar governorate, total electricity production reached 1,714.1 GW per hour at the end of June 2016 with an increase of 7.5 per cent compared to the production recorded during the same period of 2015, which reached 1,594.7 GW per hour.
In the Governorate of Musandam, electricity production touched 155.2 GW per hour with an increase rate of 0.3 per cent compared to the production recorded during the same period of 2015, which reached 154.8 GW per hour.
Electricity production in the Governorate of Al Dakhiliyah reached 598.2 GW per hour with an increase of 4.9 per cent compared to the production recorded during the same period of 2015, which reached 570.5 GW per hour.
In Al Wusta Governorate, production of electricity reached 181.7 GW per hour with an increase of 25.9 per cent compared to the production recorded during the same period of 2015, which reached 144.3 GW per hour.
The Governorates of North and South Al Sharqiyah recorded a decline in the rate of production level compared to the corresponding period last year. It declined by 1.7 per cent so that the total production in the two governorates stood at 2,380.7 GW per hour in June 2016 compared to 2,421.2 GW per hour during the corresponding period in 2015.
The net of the Sultanate’s electricity production till the end of June 2016 reached 15,702.7 GW per hour, compared to the figures recorded during the same period of 2015, which reached 14,925.7 GW per hour with an increase rate of 5.2 per cent.
This production includes the procurements of Oman Power and Water Procurement Company (OPWP) and the procurements of the Rural Areas Electricity Company (RAEC).
The NCSI statistics indicated that the biggest quantity of electricity net production was recorded in the Governorates of North and South Al Batinah and Al Dhahirah. The net production recorded in these governorates at the end of last June 2016 reached 8,307 GW per hour, compared to the net production recorded during the same period of 2015, which reached 7,449.7 GW per hour with an increasing rate of 11.5 per cent.
The net production in the Governorate of Muscat at the end of last June reached 2,447.4 GW per hour compared to the net production recorded during the same period of 2015, which reached 2,640.9 GW per hour, a decline by 7.3 per cent.
The net electricity production in the Governorate of Dhofar reached 2,652.9 GW per hour at the end of last June compared to 1,522.7 GW per hour recorded last year, comprising an increase by 8.6 per cent.
The net electricity production in the Governorate of Musandam reached 148.7 GW per hour at the end of last June compared to 147.2 GW per hour recorded last year, comprising an increase by 1 per cent.
The net production in the Governorate of Al Dakhiliyah at the end of last June reached 593.8 GW per hour compared to the net production recorded during the same period of 2015, which reached 566.1 GW per hour with increase rate of 4.9 per cent.
The net production in the Governorates of North and South Al Sharqiyah at the end of last June 2016 reached 2,371.4 GW per hour compared to the net production recorded during the same period of 2015, which reached 2,415.7 GW per hour with a decreasing rate of 1.8 per cent.
The net production in the Governorate of Al Wusta at the end of June 2016 reached 181.5 GW per hour compared to the net production recorded during the same period of 2015, which reached 184.3 GW per hour with a decline by 1.5 per cent.
On the other hand, the Sultanate’s production of water till the end of May 2016 reached 148,512.800 cubic metres with an increase of 10.1 per cent compared to the water production recorded during the same period of 2015, which reached 134,915.900 cubic metres.
The water production in the Governorate of Muscat increased with 9.9 per cent to reach 68,630.200 cubic metres compared to the production recorded during the same period of 2015, which reached 62.453 million cubic metres.
The water production in the Governorate of Dhofar increased by 26 per cent to reach 19,095.700 cubic metres compared to the production recorded during the same period of 2015, which reached 15.158 million cubic metres.
The water production in other governorates till the end of May 2016 increased with 6.1 per cent to reach 60,786.900 cubic metres compared to the production recorded during the same period of 2015, which reached 57,304.900 cubic metres.
