Muscat: Oman's Consul General in Australia has confirmed that the missing Omani student is within Australian territory and did not leave the country.
On Sunday, the Consulate of Oman in Australia announced that 28-year-old Aisha Bint Salem Al Ghaithi, a student at the University of Queensland, was reported missing by the University after she failed to return to classes following a midterm break.

The Consulate added that the last reported communication with her family was over a month ago.
Today, the Ministry of Higher Education released an update on the search for the student. In a statement online, the Ministry said: "Dr Hamoud bin Amer Al-Wardi, Consul General of the Sultanate, for Australia said that the Omani student is still being sought in coordination with Australian police and relevant authorities. In the morning, we received confirmation from the Immigration Service that the student did not leave Australia."
"The Consulate wishes to emphasise that the safety of the student is now a priority. We ask everyone not to spread rumors and take news from the Consulate General of Oman in Australia, which will provide the latest updates on the investigation," the Ministry added.
