Oman juniors finish overall third at GCC Swimming Championships

Muscat: The Oman junior and youth national team finished overall third in the 26th GCC Swimming Championships organised in Dammam.
While the Qatari team emerged the champions and Bahrain runners-up, Oman settled for overall third place after winning a total of 15 medals during the course of the championships.
Oman’s tally included six gold, three silver and six bronze medals.
On the concluding day of the championships, Oman won four medals to take their tally to 15.
The final day’s four medals won by the Omanis included a gold medal which was won by Mohannad Awladthani in the 100m backstroke.
Isa Al Adawi won the 200m freestlyle silver while Oman also won two bronze medals -- in the 4x400m medley and 200m freestyle by Omar Al Wahaibi.
Oman Swiming Association chief Taha bin Sulaiman Al Kishry, who is also the chairman of the organising committee, handed over the trophies.
The Omanis also won overall third place in the open (general) category, where the UAE team took the top honours.
