Muscat: Eight Omani students have been awarded the Chevening Scholarship to enrol in post-graduate programmes at British universities this year.
In a video posted by the UK in Oman on twitter, Kawther Al Balushi, a recipient of the scholarship and an English teacher at the International Maritime College, who will enrol in the MA International Education programme, said, “I am very honoured to be selected for the Chevening Scholarship and I am very excited to start my master’s programme at the University of Bath.
“I would like to extend my appreciation to the British embassy for their support and I am very happy to start my masters programme very soon.”
Another Chevening scholar, Abdul Rahim Al Kiyumi, said he was very pleased to receive the scholarship and will enrol in the Masters in Oil and Gas engineering programme at the University of Salford.
Meanwhile, the British ambassador to Oman, Jonathan Wilks, congratulated the successful Chevening scholars and said that Chevening offers a unique opportunity for future leaders to develop professionally and academically.
Chevening Scholarships have been provided by the British government in Oman with the assistance of BAE systems. They offer a complete scholarship for students to enrol in post-graduate programmes and include tuition and housing fees, along with a stipend for the students.
