Salalah: A 5-day workshop on judicial accounting in GCC states kicked off on Sunday in the Wilayat of Salalah, Dhofar Governorate.
The workshop is organised by the State Audit Institution as part of a training plan for financial and accounting audit authorities in GCC states.
The workshop is attended by representatives of GCC audit departments, in addition to specialists in the fields of auditing and accounting.
Salim Mohsin Al Ghassani, Director of the Training and Development Centre, said that the workshop focuses on judicial accounting practices as basic measures for combating financial crimes.
He pointed out that those practices help integrate accounting aspects with legal procedures, use advanced analytical tools to collect and present evidence to judicial authorities and ensure sufficiency of evidence and related data during the process of litigation.
Al Ghassani underscored the growing importance of judicial accounting amid a rising trend in methods of fraud and digital technologies. He explained that updating audit practices plays a key role in protecting public funds, enhances transparency and accountability, consolidates investor confidence and addresses modern economic challenges.
The workshop deals with four main topics: "Basic principles of judicial accounting"; "Relevant international standards"; "Financial analysis techniques used in the field of auditing" and "Criteria of drafting reports".
The workshop also deals with legal procedures associated with judicial accounting and the roles undertaken by specialists before the courts.
The workshop seeks to exchange expertise and knowledge among regulatory bodies in GCC states in a manner that contributes to supporting national strategic approaches and applying the best regional and international practices.
