Dhaka: A newly-wed couple and at least seven other people were killed when a train rammed into a minibus at a crossing in Sirajganj's Ullapara upazila Monday evening, state media reported. Police said the fatal accident occurred at the Swalop rail crossing on the Dhaka-Rajshahi rail route at around 6:30 pm when the capital-bound Padma Express hit a microbus carrying a bridal party. Nine people including the newly-weds died on the spot, police added. The train directly hit the minibus when it was carelessly crossing the rail track, Kawshik Ahmed, Office-in-Charge of Ullapar told state media. State media named the bride as Sumaiya and the bridegroom as Rajan. The injured were rushed to Ullapara Upazila Health Complex and later shifted to Sirajganj Sadar Hospital.
