Muscat: Within efforts to promote digital transformation and improve the quality of services in Muscat Governorate, Muscat Municipality on Monday kicked off an awareness campaign titled ‘The Address is known’ to encourage the public to update their address data and benefit from this service.
The address data update service is one of the new e-services provided by the municipal sector in Muscat Governorate, whose purpose is to enable and clarify the correctness of the data to the beneficiary when going to accomplish any of the services through the Oman Business Platform.
By linking the address data update with the Oman Business Platform, a comprehensive improvement in service delivery can be achieved, as the data update contributes to speeding up procedures, improving coordination between the concerned authorities, and providing flexible and fast services, whether for citizens or companies. This platform represents a major step towards digitising government services, making it easier to deal with the concerned authorities.
On the other hand, the updating of addressing data will facilitate logistics services such as parcel delivery, spatial delivery, and e-commerce.
It will also improve the quality of some government services, such as emergency services, urban planning, health surveys, and statistical data.
Beneficiaries will be able to easily update their address data through Muscat Municipality's online portal (www.mm.gov.om), to update building data, add electricity and water account numbers, and amend the name of the owner or housing unit.
To update the address data, beneficiaries must fill out the update form and attach the required documents such as copies of the property ownership, proxy, identity card, electricity and water meter number, as well as a copy of the commercial register for companies, and a copy of the building permit for new property owners.
The service targets new property owners, companies that need to update their data, as well as those wishing to amend their electricity or water account numbers.
Beneficiaries can submit requests electronically through the Muscat Municipality's online portal, or through the customer services departments in Muscat Municipality directorates in the provinces, or through Sanad offices.
