Muscat: The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion has introduced the service of Mobile laboratories for fuel pump testing as to ensure timely response and credibility in measurement of the quantity of fuel and the type of fuel offered to consumers.
The Ministry would first start the service of mobile laboratories in the governorates of Muscat, Dhofar and North Al Batinah.
Emad bin Khamis Al Shukaili, Director General of the Directorate General of Specifications and Metrology at the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion said the mobile laboratories service is the first service of its type in Oman and is the second at the GCC States’ level.
He said that the Ministry is keen for offering this service due to the significance of periodical testing of fuel pumps and to ensure the quality of the service offered to consumers.
He said that the Ministry would enhance this service by obligating owners of fuel pumps with compliance with the local and international standards and specifications.
The mobile laboratories will be equipped with modern devices and equipment for testing the fuel, which means compliance with the type of fuel offered whether M91, M95 or M98, which would boost the confidence of consumers and owners of fuel pump in terms of the type of fuel.
He said that the service will be activated in three units of mobile laboratories covering all stations in the governorates of Muscat, North Al Batinah and Dhofar which will be followed by other units for the remaining governorates.
There are charges against the service of periodical testing from fuel pumps which are the lowest compared to the charges applicable in the region and the other countries applying this type of services, he said pointing out to that these fees would be annual.
