Oman’s Fatma Al Nabhani storms into quarterfinals in Spain

Muscat: Omani ace Fatma Al Nabhani stormed into the quarterfnals of the $10,000 Las Palmas de Gran Canaria ITF Pro Circuit tournament in Spain on Wednesday.
According to information received here, the Omani girl, who at 392 is the highest ranked player in the tournament, defeated Poland’s Patrycja Polanska in her women’s singles second round match.
The top seeded Omani recorded a 6-3, 6-2 victory over the Polish lass to advance to the last eight stage.
In the quarterfinals, Fatma will face local girl Marta Garcia Gausi.
The unseeded Spaniard moved up after overcoming French fifth seed Marine Partaud for a thrilling 2-6, 6-2, 6-1 victory.
Fatma has already reached the quarterfinals of the doubles competition in the company of Belgian Helene Scholsen.
