Muscat: Isolated rainfall associated with thunderstorms are likely over parts of the Sultanate of Oman for four days from Tuesday, July 30, 2024 till Friday, August 2, 2024
The latest weather updates and analysis of the National Multi Hazard Early Warning Center indicate that Sultanate of Oman will be under the effect of low pressure in Arabian Sea starting from today evening 30th of July 2024 till Friday 2nd of August 2024. Clouds advection is expected over most of The Sultanate of Oman governates with chances of isolated rain occasionally thunderstorms over South Al Sharqiya and parts of Al Wusta, North Al Sharqiya, Muscat, and Dhofar governorates.

Tuesday and Wednesday evening
Clouds advection over most of the Sultanate of Oman governorates and chances of clouds formation during the afternoon and evening hours over the Al Hajar Mountains and adjoining areas. Chances of clouds advection and formation associated with isolated rain occasionally thunderstorms starting this evening over South Al Sharqiyah Governorate, which may extend to include the coasts of the Al Wusta Governorate and parts of the North Al Sharqiyah and Muscat Governorates. Continuing opportunities of drizzle and isolated rain over the coastal and mountainous areas of Dhofar Governorate.
Expected impact:
• Rainfall between 10-30 mm may lead to the flow of some wadies.
• Fresh downdraft winds with speeds ranging between 15-35 knots (27-60 km/h) leading to movement of unstable objects.
• Decrease in horizontal visibility during thunderstorms and rising dust due to downdraft winds.
• Rough sea along Arabian Sea coasts with a maximum height of four meters.

Chances of clouds formation during the afternoon and evening hours over the Al Hajar Mountains and adjoining areas.
