Muscat: The three attackers involved in the Wadi Kabir shooting incident in Muscat were Omani brothers, who died while resisting the security forces, said the Royal Oman Police in a statement on Thursday.
Investigation into the case indicated that they were influenced by others and had misguided ideas, added the ROP.
In one of the rare cases, six people, including one policeman were killed and 28 others were injured when the attackers opened fire at a mosque in Wadi Kabir in Muscat on Monday night.
Oman News Agency said that three attackers were also killed in the incident.
The Pakistan Embassy in Oman said that four of its nationals were killed in the mosque attack.
The dead have been identified as Ghulam Abbas, Hasan Abbas, Sayyed Qaisar Abbas and Sulaiman Nawaz, according to the Pakistan Embassy in Oman.
