Tourism Ministry issues statement regarding license for adventure camps

Muscat: The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism called on institutions, companies and individuals wishing to organise adventure tourism trips to apply through the electronic services portal to obtain the necessary license.

The Ministry can impose a penalty in case of non-compliance which is imprisonment for a period of no less than ten days and a fine of no less than OMR 6,000.

The Ministry said in a statement :"With reference to the announcement issued by the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism on May 8, 2023 regarding the start of receiving applications for licenses for companies organising adventure tourism trips for institutions and companies holding a tour operator license, as well as the start of receiving applications for specialised guidance for adventure tourism activities."

 We would like to report that the Ministry notices that some institutions, companies and individuals practice the activity of organising adventure tourism trips and advertising them on social media or other means without obtaining a license to do so from this Ministry, which is considered a violation of Article (8) of the Tourism Law, which stipulates that: No natural or legal person may practice any tourism activity except after obtaining a license to do so from the Ministry, which is punishable by law with imprisonment for a period of not less than ten days and not more than six months, and a fine of not less than OMR 6,000 , not exceeding OMR 50,000 , or one of these two penalties in accordance with Article (17) of the law.

 The Ministry invites all companies and individuals wishing to practice this activity to apply to this Ministry through the electronic services portal (www.mht.gov.om), and to fulfill the approved security and safety requirements.
