Muscat: Four little white tigers about to be smuggled into Libya from Tunisia were seized by customs officials at the Ras Jedir border crossing, state media reported.
According to a statement from Tunisia's General Directorate of Customs, the suspect, a Libyan national, claimed to have bought the tigers from a zoo but failed to present the required authorisations or any other information about the transaction.
The tigers were seized and transferred to the Directorate of Forests and a report was drafted, according Tunisia's state news agency. They added that the suspect's release was ordered by the Public Prosecutors Office and his case referred to the Customs Investigations Directorate.
