Oman Post releases envelope to mark Salalah Tourism Festival

Muscat: Oman Post issued on Wednesday a memorial envelope to celebrate the Salalah Tourism Festival 2016.
Times of Oman was able to get its hands on the first special edition at an Oman Post office in Ruwi. The envelope displays a group of male and female Omanis practicing the traditional Dhofari dance.
The Salalah Tourism Festival 2016 had commenced on July 15 and will last till August 31; it is based on the theme “Oman: Love & Peace.”
The festival will also include many activities and programmes, such as the traditional village, which highlights the traditional handcrafts, arts, games, meals and costumes of Oman.
About 333,000 people visited the Governorate of Dhofar during the Khareef “Monsoon Season” from June 21 to August 1, according to latest data.
Data from Khareef Salalah 2016’s Visitors Survey conducted by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) also reflected an increase in the number of visitors, compared with the same period in 2015, when about 246,269 visitors visited the festival, reflecting a 35.2 per cent jump.
