Muscat: The World Health Organization chose the Ministry of Health, represented by the Department of Non-Communicable Diseases, as a cooperating centre for research and training in the field of chronic respiratory diseases.
The health ministry played a key role in linking services for treating the most common chronic respiratory diseases at primary health care institutions.
The ministry was able to enhance and develop health services for patients with chronic respiratory diseases by establishing 161 clinics for asthma patients. It also provided a wide range of medications to patients.
In addition, the Ministry invested in training and developing the capabilities of pharmacists, doctors and nurses to ensure the provision of optimal health care to patients.
