Muscat: Oman Meteorology has warned people of thunderstorms over a number of governorates of the Sultanate of Oman on Monday, November 6,2023 from 12 pm till 10 pm.
"Cumulus cloud activity over parts of the Hajar Mountains extending to the coast of the Sea of Oman today (Monday), with chances of thunderstorms at times, accompanied by active winds and hail leading to the flow of valleys and reefs during the afternoon and evening periods," Oman Meteorology said in a statement.
Thunderstorms are expected over various governorates of the Sultanate of Oman which are Muscat, South Al Batinah, North Al Batinah, Musandam, Al Dakhiliyah, South Al Sharqiyah and North Al Sharqiyah and may extend to coastal areas of Oman Sea.
Oman Meteorology added that rainfall may range between 10-50 mm and cause poor horizontal visibility, along with downdraft winds of 15-45 knots, and chances of overflowing valleys.
The Meteorology has urged people to move away from low-lying places, not to attempt to swim in valleys. Keep an eye on children and make sure they stay away from approaching or crossing valleys for the sake of public safety.
