Muscat: Under the patronage of His Highness Sayyid Theyazan bin Haitham bin Tarik Al Said, Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth, a ceremony was organised honouring specialists working in antiquities and museums including private museums on the sidelines of the twenty-seventh meeting of their Highnesses and Excellencies the Ministers of Culture of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
For the category of specialists working in the field of museums, Zubaida bint Khamis Al-Balushi - Visitor Services Supervisor at the Natural History Museum was honoured, and for the category of specialists working in the field of archaeology, Walid bin Hamad Al-Ghafri - Head of the Archaeological Excavations Department at the Department of Archaeological Surveys and Excavations at the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism was honoured.
Abna Majan Museum was also honoured in the category of private museums. This honor comes as an effort by the GCC countries to support specialists in these fields and in return for the efforts made to advance this sector.
