Muscat: The Ministers of Culture at the GCC States held yesterday their 27th meeting at Al Bustan Palace Hotel under the chairmanship of His Highness HH Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham Al Said, Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth.
Jassem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) said that the cultural march of the GCC Cooperation Council in the past secured historic achievements for the GCC states at the world level as they have got high ranking in the competitiveness rating index for 2023.
He also reviewed in his speech a number of GCC cultural events jointly organised by the GCC member states in 2022 besides the cooperation among the GCC states in the field of training and honouring of talents. The speech of the GCC Secretary General also tackled a number of joint cultural meetings.
The meeting dealt with a number of issues aimed to enhance cooperation in the cultural field among the GCC States, notably the cultural strategy for the GCC states for 2020- 2030 and the vision for development of joint cultural work in the sectors of culture and tourism and the book fairs in the GCC states.
The meeting also dealt with protection of moral, religious and family values in the GCC and the support of the candidacy of Bahrain for the membership of the executive council of the UNESCO for 2023-2027 among other issues.
