Muscat: His Majesty, Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, on Wednesday, reiterated Oman's solidarity with Palestinians, backing all efforts underway for de-escalation and the cessation of attacks on children and innocent civilians, the Oman News Agency reported.
His Majesty the Sultan also called for the release of hostages in accordance with the principles of international humanitarian law and stressed the need for the international community to assume its responsibilities to protect civilians, ensuring their humanitarian needs.
Speaking while presiding over a meeting of the Council of Ministers at Al Barakah Palace, His Majesty supported lifting the illegal siege on Gaza and Palestinian territories and resuming the peace process to enable Palestinians regain all their legitimate rights. These include establishing their independent state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the principle of the two-state solution, the Arab Peace Initiative and all relevant UN resolutions.
