Sayyid Badr holds talks with Borrell on Palestine issue

Muscat: Sayyid Badr Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister met with Josep Borrell, High Representative of the European Union (EU) for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Vice-President ofthe European Commission.

This meeting was held within the framework of the 27th session of the Joint GCC-EU Ministerial Council in Muscat

The meeting touched on the GCC-EU relations and cooperation in political and economic fields.

It also underlined the importance of applying items of the joint strategy agreed by the two sides with an emphasis on developing investment and cultural environment between the two sides particularly in aspects related to green energy.

Viewpoints were exchanged on a range of regional and international issues of common concern, in addition to following with concern the ongoing escalation between the Palestinians and Israelis.

Sayyid Badr Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister reaffirmed the necessity of finding a fair, comprehensive and lasting solution for the Palestinian cause on the basis of two-state solution and the right of self-determination for the Palestinian people to establish their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The meeting was attended by Munthir Mahfoudh Al Mantheri, Head of the Europe Department.
